Colon Cleanse From Home

Colon cleansing is a great way to rid your body of toxins and to boost your overall health and energy level.  And while colonic irrigation done by a professional is highly effective, it is also possible to cleanse your colon in the privacy of your own home and with slightly less intrusive measures. Regular colon cleansing can ease a variety of stomach ailments such as constipation or bloating. And can also reduce your chances of developing colon cancer and other digestive conditions.

To cleanse your bowel from home you have several options.  If you are intimidated by the process you can start small with a relatively simple and mild change to help your digestive tract.  Given that everything we eat plays a big part in how the body functions, you can make some simple dietary changes to help clean out your bowel.  These changes include eating more fibrous foods such as whole grain and bran cereals; or green, leafy vegetables such as spinach or broccoli.

Fruit is also important in the colon cleansing process. Most fruits act as a gentle laxative and promote regular bowel movements. Some fruits believed to be extra helpful in cleansing your colon include: raspberries, strawberries, prunes, papaya, orange, apple, pears, figs, and avocadoes.

And of course you need to remember to drink lots of water.  Our bodies need to be well hydrated in order to function optimally and be able to flush out toxins accumulating in the colon and throughout the body. You should try to drink 1 ½ -2 liters of water each and every day.

And aside from dietary changes which can be done whenever you choose and are sustainable healthy lifestyle changes, you can also use herbal supplements to further enhance the cleanse and to achieve faster, more thorough results.

Many herbs and supplements function as natural laxatives and help to effectively cleanse the colon. These include turkey rhubarb, which is an intestinal cleaner, and cascara sagrada, which is a mild colon cleanser. Other supplements proven to promote a healthy digestive tract include flax seeds, senna, worm seeds and olive leaf extracts.  There are many colon packages with these herbs already included that over a 2 week to 1 month regime can rid, not only your gut but your entire body, of all the accumulated toxins and waste.

And of colonic irrigation interests you, but you would just prefer to do it yourself in your home, you could try an enema, which is the next best thing. There are different types of enemas–water, clay and coffee. Unfortunately, enemas are messy and sometimes uncomfortable. This type of colon cleanse primarily removes waste and toxins located in the lower intestines.  So it is still recommended that you use herbal supplements in a home detox diet to ensure that your body has been thoroughly cleaned.
